El Segundo California

We flew from Chicago to LAX. They were good travelers.

And sleepy!

playing with toys at Grandpa's

Manhattan Beach pier. It was June Gloom.

I can't believe how tall Thula is getting!

We played at the park.

We walked up and down main street and ate at a restaurant called Good Stuff. The kids still talk about it! Grandpa also took us out to eat at Thula's favorite pizza place and for some Thai food. Everything was so good!

We visited the library and Stuart read books to the fish in their little aquarium.

Visiting in the backyard with Gramps.

At Dockweiler beach.

Lela liked digging in the sand like a doggie.

I told Stuart to smile and he posed like he was surfing.

The water was cold and scary for Lela and Stuart so they preferred playing in the sand.

Thula was so proud of her tan.

Everyone got a ride on the motorcycle. My heart was on my sleeve watching little Stuart on that bike.

Grampa lives across the street from the back of the high school.

We went over to Erin's (Meg's daughter) house. Lela and Stuart liked playing with her girls, Evie (4) and Emry (2).

2nd day at the beach (El Segundo). I had a lot of fun boogie boarding that day. We also saw a lot of crabs and a seal (which Thula thought was a shark). We packed lunches for the beach. We ate cold hot dogs, watermelon, chips, and cookies.

Mermaid!

Last day! We miss you grandpa and we are happy that we got to visit with you.

Chicago Cousins

June 1st we headed up to Chicago to see our Zimmerman cousins. We swam in their pool.
Elijah and Stuart enjoyed a game of croquet.

Playing dress-up

Eating on the deck with new lights. Missy came over.

Roasting marshmellows.

Tired out after a long day.

Going canoeing. Every one wanted to ride in Josh's new truck.

L to R: Lela (7) Kaia (8) Thula (12) Helena (9) Elijah (6) Stuart (almost 4!) Everyone got a long great.

Thula kayaking by herself. There are little lakes and ponds all over the Chicago area and this one is near Emily and Josh's home.

Lela and I going out together. It was my first time. I loved it. Emily and I also took the kids out in a canoe.

Elijah and Stuart developed a real friendship this trip.

Sleeping again! He loved that big bear.

Playing in the backyard.

Emily taught me how to can homemade jam. We used Grandma Elaine's recipe. We made strawberry and raspberry jam.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend I took the kids camping with our friend's the Kelly's. They had some relatives in Waddy, KY with a beautiful property we camped on. The kids went fishing in the pond. The only terrible part was a downpour around 10PM. The Kelly's didn't have a rain fly over their tent so their tent got soaking wet. So all the kids slept in the 4 man tent that was meant for us and I slept in the car. Not so relaxing...but the daytime was fun!
