Lela said that Santa told her she was the first little girl to ever ask him for a nutcracker! Stuart asked for his "power ranger doe-doe." I hope Santa gets that for him because he's been harping about it for months now. Stuart calls guns "doe-does" because when he plays with them he makes the sound " doe, da-doe, doe."
There is this old lady at church who makes thousands of plastic knitted boxes. She gives them away and Lela enjoys playing with them.
Thula's school choir sang Christmas songs downtown. There was a craft table set up for little kids too and Stuart and Lela had fun with that.
Thula had a sleepover with 6 friends. They sang, they played games, ate pizza, danced, and did a white elephant exchange. I think Thula had fun, but it was one of the longest nights of my life! Thula opened gifts after everyone left and she received $50 from Grandma, a bathset and bracelet from Grandpa, a vest and shirt from old navy from Aunt Rosie, and wedges (high heeled wedge shoes) from her parents.
I took the kids to Farnsley Moreman Landing old fashioned Christmas event. They were so excited for the carriage ride! We also enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies and a tour of the old house. Lela asked the tour guide if she could see inside her dress because she wanted to know how it stayed so poofy. The lady was obliging.
I love watching Lela play with the nativity sets. She is so sweet.
My sister gave me that Mexican tin nativity set for me for an early birthday gift. I had reluctantly given her my other one (she called it my gift of the magi) and so when she was in Austin, Tx this summer she found this one. Thank you Rosie!
The girls also dressed their brother in that bandana loincloth. I have no words for that.
For thanksgiving the Yuiyi's and my mom and Bob came down. It was fun. Afterwards we stuck with tradition and went to the Galt House Hotel to see their Christmas displays and show. Big Stuart's face about sums it up! Haha
Stuart's youngest sibling came to spend Thanksgiving break with us. He is currently at BYU-I. It was fun getting to know him. We went to the science center, out to eat at Subway, and walked around down town.
Lela's school does a turkey trot every year. Lela's school has a little over 400 students and she came in around number 20! Thula finished the last part with her and uncle Munyinda and I cheered from the sidelines. Her school donated over 13k food items to the food bank! Little Stuart's school had a thanksgiving lunch. Such cute turkeys!
Lela feels like a big girl with her hair straightened. I also made her a headband with pipe cleaners on "dress like a turkey day" at school. They are supposed to be feathers!
Soccer pictures and trophies. All three kids played on the Valley View Baptist church league. We also discovered a fun new park!
Stuart has really taken to Haloween. He likes to dress up and scare kids while passing out candy. He plays scary music and sets off fireworks. That big spider is not a Halloween decoration, she built a web by the front door! I took the kids to a day of the dead event in downtown Louisville. Thula was thrilled.
Thula is a cat, Lela is a minion, Stuart is Spider-Man. We went Trick or Treating with friends from school and a girl from church. It was a nice warm night.
Stuart's preschool field trip to a pumpkin patch. He hung out with his friend, Wesley. When I asked him to smile for the camera on the bus he flashed me the peace sign and made a duck face! Stuart's teacher Ms Kinder is comforting a nervous preschooler.
We decorated pumpkins, attended our firehouse's fall festival where they also had some new fire trucks blessed by the local priest, and chaperoned Lela's class Halloween party. Can someone say, twister?!
