Happy Un-Thanksgiving!

Overlooking Churchill Downs from the box seats. Stuart's co-worker mentioned that every Thanksgiving their family attended the races and ate leftover Halloween candy. It just so happened that we had tons of leftover Halloween candy and we were waiting to celebrate Thanksgiving when my sister came into town on Friday, so we thought we would spend the day at the races. Parking at the Downs was $20 so we parked our car a few blocks away in a neighborhood and as we were walking over a man came up to us and said, "Happy Thanksgiving" and gave us tickets to the races. What a lucky day!

The field is HUGE and each race takes less than five minutes. Then these big tractors come and rake up the dirt  for  about 30 minutes before the next little race can start.

We liked the horses with spots on their backside. We gambled away $6 and lost. Afterwards, Thula said she felt guilty for gambling and hoped that dad wouldn't get addicted to it!

Lela like the horses and has since asked when we can go and see the horsey's again.

And they're off!

Stuart and the girls walked down to the track  for a closer look.
