The weeks leading up to Kentucky Derby are filled with community festivals and parades. I took Stuart and Lela to the expo center to see the parade floats. It was crowded.
The day before Derby is called Oaks. It's when they race the fillies. Between 6 AM and 9 AM they have all the horses out warming up at the track at Churchill downs. I got the kids up early and we headed over to the track to watch. I thought it was neat, but the girls wanted more interaction with the horses. A lucky few got to feed them some snacks that they had brought. I'll remember for next time.
